  • Remote Desktop and Multiple Monitors in Vista

So, seeming how I always complain about the lack of multimonitor support in everything everywhere, you would have thought I would have seen this earlier (Seth pointed it out to me a couple of weeks ago).

In Vista, typing mstsc /v:[terminal server name] /span in the run box, the span flag lets you "span" remote desktop across multiple monitors. It is only psuedo multimonitor support, since the server treats the whole viewable space as one monitor, but it is definitely much better than it was before. You could pretend to span before, but the buffer size really limited less than 2048 across (it now goes up to 4096x2048),

There are some rules involved, check out the whole post on the Terminal Service Blog entry. This change (and some others) were also back ported to Windows XP and Windows 2003 server with the release of Remote Desktop Client 6.0

  • 'Kryptonite' discovered in mine

  • Paraskavedekatriaphobia

That crazy word, my friends, is the word for 'the fear of Friday the 13th'.

    TGIF just the same!

  • Local Charlotte Band

So, my office mate at my last job (the office was actually a one person office, but that is another story) sent me a song to listen to, which ended up being from his Dad's band in Charlotte (well, Salisbury to be more precise). You can check out the song on their site, and it is also in my stream on the Radio link at the top of the page. The band's name is Throttle Kings (eh?)
  • Moving Sucks

For all of you that haven't moved in a while and forgot, moving sucks! Today was spent with me moving everything I own either into the dumpster or into the U-Haul.

But hey! One positive thing happened out of all of it, I finally threw out all my legacy hardware and out of date books. Remembering that I would have to carry them all again into the new place was motivation enough to pitch them. Thanks to Ray, if he reads this, for helping a brother carry his damn couch down the stairs. Oh, did I mention its the second floor?

Fortunantly the next stop is on the first floor, I swear, as <insert your religious diety here> as my witness, I am buying next time and never moving again as long as I live.
